Things To Do
It's kind of weird...The people that live in the Rio Grande Valley always ask themselves this question. Is there anything to do in the Rio Grande Valley? Well...I like to say that there are a lot of things to do in the Rio Grande Valley. You literally have about 13,000 square miles of awesomeness. Now whether you are willing to take a 30-60 minute drive is up to you. When people live in big cities, such as San Antonio or Austin, they spend roughly an hour just driving. It's really not uncommon for people to drive 40 minutes just to go to work! So why should it be a problem to go somewhere fun?
The RGV is an area full of resacas. You can fish practically anywhere in the valley. There are plenty of spots you can fish. From a canal on North 10th Street (just past the Best Buy on Trenton) to a resaca just behind the Brownsville Event Center where you can catch bass. If you want to make it a day you can go to South Padre Island and try to catch saltwater fish. Pier fishing is very popular and a comfortable way to fish. You can also fish off the jetties and try your luck there.
There are plenty of museums here in the RGV. It's truly wonderful to know the area that you're living in. I really suggest you go out and check out all the museums here in the valley.
If you like to golf then the RGV offers about 30 golf courses you can play. They are all in at least in good condition. Some of the golf courses offer only par 3's to work on your short game and while others offer you to work on your complete game. I have list of golf courses that are available here in the RGV. Take a look here.
For those of you guys that HATE to play golf haha. Well there are other things to do. There are a ton of theatrical plays going on in the RGV. It's really fascinating to see people perform in a live stage! These people really do try their hardest to make great show every night. The Camille Playhouse in Brownsville offers wine for you to drink while watching a show. I think that's super cool and very "Broadway." There are about nine theater's around the valley. So if you time it right a "Broadway" show can really be a great start to a night in a different town. Check it out the shows here.
