Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park
If you go to this park you would definitely feel like you found a gemstone in Brownsville, TX. As you walk the trails in the Palo Alto Battlefield, you will get a real sense of how the actual battle between the U.S. Army and the Mexican Army unfolded. When I visited this historical site I realized I was actually walking over fields where many had fought and died. To visit Palo Alto Battlefield to its entirety the trail will take you over 2 hours. Click the link to see what the trail is like.
We made the mistake and decided to walk the trail first. I suggest to you to go to the visitors center and learn a little bit more upon the U.S.-Mexican War. The visitor Center is a very clean and set up like a museum. There is a 15 minute informational video. You will probably hear familiar names and say "Oh, no wonder that street is named after him." Hint: take water!!! If you plan to hike the trail, it can get hot out there. We took a few photos of the Visitors Center.
The best part about the Palo Alto Battlefield is that admission is free! So far there are many special events and programs that start from September through May. Palo Alto Battlefield keeps increasing the awareness of this beautiful trail that's part of our history. This is an awesome place to visit if you are within the area.
